The Long Walk to Freedom

So, tomorrow I am embarking on an Ultramarathon; the Jurassic Coast Challenge. This particular one is 78.6 miles long, and is run as one marathon per day over the next three days.
I am getting very nervous about it. I only just made it round a half marathon 2 weeks ago. At least I have (rather sensibly, I think) posted myself into the ‘Walkers/Joggers’ category, which means I’m not expected to run all the way!
I can finish a half marathon in 2h30 or thereabouts, which includes walking, so technically the marathon should take 5 hours. I’m sure this won’t be the case, of course. The course is very hilly, and I don’t think I can do the second half marathon in anything like the same time as the first.
The thing is, I’m sure that running long distances is more than 50% in the mind. Setting goals to reach certain points as you go along, thinking about how great you feel, and not thinking about the running at all – these all seem to help. Self belief is key. Positive Mental Attitude a must.
I have never pushed myself this far. I’m excited, nervous, and strangely calm about it, all at the same time. Wish me luck!
